چکیده

Low cost millimetre wave modules are needed for emerging 60 GHz applications such as high speed wireless communications and millimetre wave identification (MMID). All applications require high performance antenna arrays to overcome the high propagation losses. Two alternative antenna array designs on a low cost substrate (Taconic Taclamplus) are presented and analysed in this paper. The arrays are manufactured using standard printed circuit board (PCB) technology and have measured gains of 18 dBi and 23 dBi. The operational bandwidths are about 2 GHz around the center frequency. Transmitter and receiver modules based on the developed antenna arrays are also presented.

Millimeter-Wave Identification—A New Short-Range Radio System for Low-Power High Data-Rate Applications

The radio-frequency identification (RFID) concept is expanded to millimeter-wave frequencies and millimeter-wave identification (MMID) in this paper. The MMID concept and a comparison with UHF RFID are presented, showing the limitations and benefits of MMID. Three feasible applications are suggested for MMID, which are: 1) wireless mass memory; 2) an automatic identification system with pointin...

Design Investigation of Microstrip Patch and Half-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide Cavity Hybrid Antenna Arrays

In this paper two linear arrays including a linear 1×4 and a planar 2×2 of microstrip patch and half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity hybrid antenna are introduced and investigated. These are simply implemented using low cost single layer printed circuit board (PCB) process. The array element consists of a rectangular microstrip patch with appropriate dimensions in the vicinity ...

تحلیل و طراحی تغییر دهنده فاز N - بیتی MEMS توزیع شده در باند Ka

Modern microwave and millimeter wave phased array antennas are attractive because of their ability to steer wave beams in space without physically moving the antenna element. A typical phased array antenna may have several thousand elements fed by a phase shifter for every antenna, which can steer the resulting array beam to different directions. Their low loss, low cost and lightweight phase s...

Design and Development of High Gain, Low Profile and Circularly Polarized Cavity-backed Slot Antennas Using High-order Modes of Square Shaped Substrtae Integrated Waveguide Resonator

In In this paper, two low profile, single fed cavity backed slot antennas providing a circularly polarized (CP) wave are introduced. One of the antennas presents a right-handed CP (RHCP) wave, while the other one offers a left handed CP (LHCP) wave. The proposed antennas consist of a square shaped Substrtae Integrated Waveguide (SIW) cavity incorporatng two couples of radiating slots to radiate...

Adaptive Antenna Arrays for Ad-Hoc Millimetre-Wave Wireless Communications

New technologies that employ millimetre-wave frequency bands to achieve high speed wireless links are gaining more attention (Dyadyuk et. al., 2007, 2009b, 2010a; Hirata et. al., 2006; Lockie & Peck, 2009; Kasugi et. al., 2009; Wells, 2009) due to increasing demand for wideband wireless communications. Very wide uncongested spectrum is available in the E—bands (71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz) recently...
